Thermal Degradation Kinetics and Activation Energy of Recycled High-Density Polyethylene/Fly Ash Composites at Varying Filler LoadingsBy Kiran Kumar M, Madhukumar K, Sasikumar N, S B G Tilak Babu, C. Senthamil Selvi, Rekha Anantharaman
Abstract: The ever-increasing plastic waste and coal fly ash are a serious environmental problem, which have to be addressed with effective recycling methods that transform plastic waste and coal fly ash into high value-added composites of good thermal properties. Although the use of recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) is an area of interest, the effect of fly ash reinforcement on thermal degradation kinetics and activation energy is still poorly characterized, and a …

Crystallization Kinetics and Morphological Shifts in Polylactic Acid/Nanocellulose Blends Under Isothermal Melt ConditionsBy Kiran Kumar M, Madhukumar K, Sasikumar N, S B G Tilak Babu, Azeezaa. V, Santosh Kumar Nathsharma
Abstract: The great potential of polylactic acid as a sustainable biopolymer for packaging, biomedical materials, and additive manufacturing, polylactic acid's slow crystallization kinetics during melt processing causes it to be poorly crystallized, thermally weak, and mechanically underperforming. Crystallization models of PLA/nanocellulose blends have been limited to isothermal melt crystallization kinetics and the resulting morphological changes. The phenomena discussed in this work are systematically explored by melt compounding of polylactic acid with …

Tensile and Flexural Strength Quantification of Basalt-Reinforced Epoxy Composites Fabricated via Vacuum-Assisted Resin Transfer Molding at Varied Fiber Volume Fractions DescriptionBy Kiran Kumar M, K.Chandra Sekhar, Jasira Banu.A, Prasadaraju Kantheti, P. M. Karandikar, R. Shivashankar
Abstract: Fiber-reinforced polymer composites have been identified to possess excellent properties that render them very suitable in the aerospace, automotive, marine and renewable energy sectors. However, for the industrially scalable vacuum-assisted resin transfer molding (VARTM) process, optimization of mechanical properties of basalt epoxy composites must be achieved systematically, which means that the effect of the fiber volume fraction (VF) on the mechanical properties of the composite needs to be quantified for …
