Histopathological Effects of Silver Nanoparticles on Gills and Liver of Freshwater Fingerlings Catla catla (Ham.)By Anita Bahadur, A. Patel, U. Dani
Abstract: Fish is the best biomarker to identify the adverse effect on surroundings. Here, the fingerlings of major carp (Catla catla) were used as a model in the present work to investigate the toxicity caused by silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The fish exposed to different concentrations of 10 μg/L and 30 μg/L AgNPs for 15 days were sampled at days 5, 10 and 15 for histology. This exposure caused organ injuries, and …

Study of Nickel Toxicity and Recovery in Freshwater Major Carp Catla catlaBy J. M. Patel, Anita Bahadur
Abstract: The present work was carried out to examine the hazardous effects of chronic intoxication of nickel ions in Catla catla, a fresh water major carp. Fingerlings were exposed to sublethal concentrations of nickel sulphate solution (5 ppm and 10 ppm) for 21 days and histotoxicity in liver, brain and intestine was studied periodically. Normal architecture of hepatocytes was disrupted. The histopathological manifestations observed in the liver were congestion of hepatocytes, …

Histotoxicity of Acid Orange 7 on organs of Fresh water fish Labeo rohitaBy J. Barot, Anita Bahadur
Abstract: The present paper reports the histotoxic effects of Acid Orange 7, an azo dye on the tissues viz. gill, kidney and liver in major carp, Labeo rohita, fingerlings. The sublethal concentrations of the dye are responsible for the histopathological alterations in the target tissues. In the gills hyperplasia, epithelial lifting, hooked secondary gill lamellae, haemorrhage in the primary gill lamellae and erosion of secondary gill lamellae were seen. The kidney …

Acute Toxicity, Morphological Changes and Behavioral Responses Induced by Sodium Perfluorooctanoate in Indian Major Carp Labeo rohita (Ham.)By Anita Bahadur, Ankita Rajyaguru
Abstract: Sodium perfluorooctanoate (NaPFO) is an anthropogenic ubiquitous environmental pollutant mainly used in textile, paper and ink industries, for specialized usage as emulsifiers, firefighting foam, lubricants etc. It finds entry into aquatic ecosystem through effluents from these industries. Static renewal bioassay test was conducted to determine 96 h LC50 of NaPFO on Indian major carp, Labeo rohita. The behavioral and morphological alterations in fingerlings were observed critically during the whole experiment …
