Performance Testing of Arduino-Based Hybrid Solar Dryer for Drying Apple Slices
Abstract: A novel and high-efficiency hybrid solar dryer was designed and developed in this study to dry apple slices. The thermal analysis of the dryer is conducted by calculating collector efficiency, drying rate, and drying efficiency. Integrating an Arduino-based temperature and humidity monitoring system in a hybrid solar dryer enhances the ability to optimize performance and efficiency. Both the collector and drying chamber are made of aluminum sheet as it has …

Experimental Investigation on Heat Transfer Enhancement in Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger Using Graphene Nanofluids
Abstract: The paper focuses on the dispersion of Graphene nanoparticles in a water–ethylene glycol based fluid to investigate their impact on the convective heat transfer performance of the resulting nanofluid. Various concentrations of graphene nanoparticles were prepared, and the nanofluids were subjected to different ultrasonication durations to ensure proper dispersion and stability of the nanoparticles within the base fluid. The study involved extensive experimental evaluation to systematically analyze how the nanoparticle …

Exploring Envelope Design Through a Biomimetic Approach for Enhanced Thermal Comfort
Abstract: This research explores how biomimicry can transform building envelopes to create comfortable indoor climates, particularly in India’s hot, dry regions. With rising temperatures and dense urbanization, conventional buildings heavily reliant on air conditioning are unsustainable. Biomimicry, inspired by nature’s designs, offers an alternative to enhance adaptability, resilience, and energy efficiency in climate-responsive buildings. The study bridges the gap between conventional envelope design and climate adaptability by examining biomimetic principles for …

Review of Thermal Performance of Solar Air Heaters: Influence of Composite Materials and Advanced Thermal Storage Techniques
Abstract: Solar air heaters (SAHs) are essential devices for capturing solar energy and converting it into heat, finding applications in steam generation, refrigeration, agricultural drying, and space and water heating in residential and commercial environments. However, the thermal performance of SAHs is often limited by the low heat transfer coefficient of air and the absence of solar energy during nighttime, impacting efficiency and reliability. To address these challenges, this study explores …

Thermal Performance of Concentrating Solar Panels
Abstract: The study shows a detailed analysis of the thermal performance of concentrating solar panels and the temperature increase due to concentrated solar radiation. This work proposes a configuration to reduce temperature rise, maintain good panel efficiency, and increase output power. The configuration is based on a sandwich structure including a phase change material (PCM), which absorbs the thermal energy excess generated by the concentrated solar radiation onto the PV panel. …
