Abstract: Solanum nigrum is an important plant in traditional medicines belonging to the Solanaceae family. It is used in hepatitis, fever, dysentery, and stomach complaint. The juice of the plant is used on ulcers and other skin diseases. The fruits are used as a laxative, appetite stimulant, and for treating asthma and "excessive thirst".
