CITIMAN: Sustainable Polymer-Driven Smart City Design to Monitor, Manage, and Mitigate
Abstract: The exponential growth of urbanization leads to a rise in the complexity of the city’s infrastructure, resources, and needs, thereby overshooting the boundaries of governance. Thus, the necessity of time is to find a smart solution to such problems and one such potential candidate is the smart city management system. Ideally, in the context of smart cities, the development of a complete system includes all city services which provide modular …

Mechanical and Environmental Performance of Curaua Fiber Composites: A Sustainable Alternative to Wood and PVC
Abstract: This study examines the mechanical behavior of curaua fiber composites, comparing their performance to other materials like wood and PVC. Curaua fibers, sourced from the Brazilian Amazon, demonstrate superior mechanical properties, making them a promising alternative for sustainable composite materials. The composites were fabricated using various methods and subjected to tensile, flexural, and impact tests. Results show that curaua fibers exhibit an average tensile strength of 30.7 MPa, outperforming wood …

A Novel Approach for Power Generation from Ocean Waves Using Ratchet and Pawl Mechanism
Abstract: Renewable energy sources collectively contribute around 29% to 30% of global electricity generation. Solar and wind power’s intermittency and weather dependency pose challenges for unreliable energy generation, requiring storage solutions like batteries and environmental considerations. By considering the above-mentioned factors, ocean wave energy stands out as a promising and consistent renewable source. Ocean wave energy is highly predictable and consistent, offering a dependable power supply with minimal greenhouse gas emissions …
