Footstep Power Generation Using Piezoelectric Materials: A Renewable Approach for Smart Infrastructure
Abstract: The rapid depletion of fossil fuels and the increasing global demand for sustainable energy have necessitated the development of decentralized energy harvesting systems. This paper presents a comprehensive study on footstep-based power generation using piezoelectric materials as a viable renewable energy solution for smart infrastructure. The proposed system converts mechanical energy generated from human locomotion into electrical energy using optimized piezoelectric transducer arrays integrated beneath floor tiles. The study covers …

Spin Coated Polyvinylidene Difluoride / Ionic Liquid Nanocomposite Thin Films with Enhanced Dielectric and Piezoelectric Properties
Abstract: This study introduces a novel approach to enhance the piezoelectric and dielectric properties of polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) by incorporating 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([BMIM][BF₄]) ionic liquid via a spin-coating method— a processing route that has been rarely reported for PVDF/ionic liquid composites. Structural and morphological analyses using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) confirm the successful integration of [BMIM][BF₄] into the PVDF matrix. The …

Energy Storage Properties of hy-BST3/PVDF Nanocomposite for Dielectric Capacitor Application
Abstract: In the present research work, we have synthesized the ferroelectric ceramic Ba0.7 Sr0.3TiO3 (BST3)/PVDF (Polyvinylidene difluoride). Polymer nanocomposites for energy storage applications, designed to synergistically combine the high dielectric permittivity of hydroxylated barium strontium titanate (hy-BST3) with the mechanical flexibility and electroactive properties of poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF). Hydroxylated Barium Strontium Titanate (hy-BST3) has been synthesized using the sol-gel combustion method followed by surface hydroxylation using H2O2 to achieve nanoscale particles …

Hybrid Polymer Nanocomposites with Enhanced Dielectric and Optical Properties for Wireless Communication Systems
Abstract: The incorporation of nanofillers into polymer matrices offers a promising approach to enhancing the multifunctional properties of composite materials. This study examines the effect of nanofiller concentration on the dielectric performance, mechanical strength, thermal stability, optical absorbance, and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effectiveness of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-based nanocomposites. Titanium dioxide (TiO₂) and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanofillers were incorporated at varying concentrations to assess their influence on material properties. EMI shielding …
