Interfacial Bonding Efficiency in Jute-Carbon Fiber Polyester Matrix Composites Evaluated Through Short Beam Shear and Interlaminar Fracture Toughness Testing
Abstract: The natural Fiber–synthetic Fiber hybrid composites are jute–carbon Fiber hybrid in polyester matrix which could be used in semi-structural applications of automotive, construction and marine industry as an eco-friendly and cost-effective alternative of conventional carbon Fiber reinforced polymer. But the hydrophilic nature of jute Fibers and the relatively inert surface of carbon Fiber's cause weak bonding at the interface of the polyester matrix, which causes premature delamination, poor interlaminar shear …

Interfacial Bonding and Performance of Polymer-Based CFRP Composites in Externally Applied Configurations
Abstract: Polymer-based carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites are widely used for externally bonded strengthening and retrofitting applications due to their high strength-to-weight ratio and adaptability to existing structures. In such systems, overall performance is governed not only by the fiber–matrix interaction within the laminate, but more critically by the polymer adhesive layer and its interaction with the substrate. Polymer chemistry, interfacial bonding mechanisms, processing conditions, and environmental exposure collectively influence …

Assessment of Matrix Cracking and Fiber Breakage in Hybrid Composite Materials.
Abstract: Hybrid composite materials, combining two or more distinct fiber or matrix constituents, have emerged as advanced structural solutions for aerospace, automotive, marine, and civil engineering applications. However, their complex microstructure makes them susceptible to multiple interacting damage mechanisms, particularly matrix cracking and fiber breakage. This study provides a comprehensive assessment of these damage modes, emphasizing their initiation, evolution, and combined effects on the mechanical integrity of hybrid composites. Matrix cracking …

Influence of Hybrid Fiber Reinforcement on the Interfacial Bonding and Fracture Toughness of Epoxy-Based Polymer Composites Under Cyclic Loading
Abstract: This study investigates the influence of hybrid fiber reinforcement on the interfacial bonding and fracture toughness of epoxy-based polymer composites under cyclic loading. Carbon, glass, and aramid fibers, both individually and in hybrid combinations, were incorporated into the epoxy matrix to evaluate their thermal, mechanical, and fatigue-resistant properties. Thermal characterization revealed distinct material behaviors, with carbon fibers exhibiting superior thermal conductivity, while glass and aramid fibers provided enhanced thermal stability. …

Development and Assessment of Mechanical Characteristics in Sisal-Glass Fiber Reinforced Epoxy Composites
Abstract: In many different fields, including tensile strength, reduced thermal expansion, and an amazing strength-to-weight ratio, fiber-reinforced polymer composites are gradually replacing conventional materials. This work mostly addresses the development and evaluation of the mechanical characteristics of epoxy composites improved with glass fibers and sisal. Among the benefits are biodegradability, lower weight, and more specific strength. Sisal polymer composites are included under natural fiber composites. Including sisal strands into glass fiber-reinforced …

Enhancing Mechanical and Thermal Properties of Glass Fiber-Reinforced Epoxy Composites with Silicon Carbide Additives
Abstract: This study explores the production and characterization of glass fiber-reinforced epoxy resin composites enhanced with silicon carbide (SiC) as a reinforcing filler. The primary objective is to evaluate the impact of SiC on the mechanical, thermal, and morphological properties of the composites. Four different samples with varying SiC weight fractions (0%, 5%, 10%, and 15%) were prepared, keeping the glass fiber content constant. The composites were fabricated using a combination …
