Performance Evaluation of Kevlar-Sisal-S-Glass Hybrid Composites with Ceramic Fillers for Structural Applications
Abstract: This study examines the mechanical properties of hybrid composite laminates reinforced with Kevlar, sisal, and S-glass fibers, and incorporating ceramic fillers—silicon carbide (SiC) and aluminum oxide (Al2O3)—within an epoxy matrix. The hand lay-up method was utilized to produce the laminates, ensuring a uniform fiber stacking sequence and including 10% filler material. Two composite variations were synthesized: one incorporating SiC and the other Al₂O₃, and both underwent tensile, flexural, hardness, and …

A Review on Effect of Cryogenic Treatment on Wear Resistant Bearing Materials for Automotive Application
Abstract: Cryogenic processing has come as a successful supplementary process to common heat treatment, especially in improving the wear-resistant performance of materials employed in in-vehicle applications. This sub-zero processing is normally performed following quenching and before tempering, during which materials are subjected to extremely low temperatures, typically around -196°C, for prolonged periods of 24 hours. Cryogenic treatment, which involves subjecting materials to extremely low temperatures, has demonstrated promising results in changing …

Corrosion Characterisation of Low Alloy CrMoV Steel Before and After Cryogenic Heat Therapy
Abstract: Low alloy CrMoV steel is used in Turbine wheels, Distance pieces, Compressor aft shafts etc of Gas Turbines. Cryogenic heat treatment was used to examine the effects on the corrosion resistance of low alloy CrMoV steel. In order to eliminate residual stresses and boost wear resistance in steels and other metal alloys, cryogenic heat treatment (CHT) employs cryogenic temperatures (i.e., below - 190°C) to treat work parts. Cryogenic treatment is …
