Basics of Biodiesel: A Review
Abstract: The present review aims to study the prospects and opportunities of introducing vegetable oils and their derivatives as fuel in diesel engines. Vegetable oils present a very promising scenario of functioning as alternative fuels to fossil diesel fuel. The properties of these oils can be compared favorably with the characteristics required for internal combustion engine fuels. Fuel-related properties are reviewed and compared with those of conventional diesel fuel. Use of …

Use of Alternative Fuels in Indian Cement Industry: A Review
Abstract: The making of Portland cement is an energy concentrated process. It produces significant pollution and uses huge amounts of non-renewable energy. With growing pressures to cut greenhouse gas emissions due to cement manufacture, research and expansion of fuel alternatives and their effect on the manufacturing process have become an industry focal point. The intrinsic properties of sintering cement in a rotary kiln allows for a large number of fuels to …

Emission Analysis Of Butanol and Waste Cooking Oil in VCR Diesel Engine
Abstract: Environmental pollution and depleting energy resources are two major reasons to find a suitable alternative fuel. The experimental study is carried out on a variable compression ratio engine to compare the emissions produced by the engine using the blends of waste cooking oil and that of butanol, separately with the emissions produced by the same engine using neat diesel on the different compression ratio and loads. The blends were prepared …

Performance analysis of Butanol and Waste Cooking Oil bio-diesels in VCR diesel engine
Abstract: Global energy crisis is the key reason for switching to alternate fuels without compromising with environmental standards. This paper focuses on assessing the performance parameters viz. brake thermal efficiency (BTE), brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC), air/fuel ratio and torque against gradually increasing load (0-4 kg) for waste cooking oil (WCO) biodiesel, butanol biodiesel and neat diesel in a variable compression ratio engine. Three different blends of WCO and butanol, separately, …
