Production and Properties Estimation of Algal Biodiesel
Abstract: The current study examines the production of biodiesel from algal biomass. The investigation was conducted to identify the optimum conditions for oil extraction and transesterification. Solvent extraction method with hexane/isopropanol as a solvent was used for oil extraction. Extracted algal oil was converted into biodiesel with conventional transesterification process, maximum yield was obtained at 1:6 molar ratio with 1 % concentration of NaOH as catalyst at 65°C.
