Abstract

As one of the defects of roller bearings due to intermittent coupling forces and external impact loads, surface cracks due to corrosion or wear may have many defects for rotating machines. Surfacecracking on the bearing or its ball is one of the important factors in the efficiency of the bearing andits opening. It is useful to study these cracks and identify the type and size of these cracks for bearingsused in automobiles and industry. Ultrasound tests were used to obtain the amount and type ofcracking in this experiment. Ultrasound test determines the size of this crack for us in experimentalwork. This crack was on the surface of the outer shell of the bearing as well as the ball. MultiphysicsCOMSOL software was used to equate an equation to arrive at a wave indicating a defect. Thescanning system is also used for experimental testing. The probes have a frequency of 15 MHz. Defectmodeling is performed on the bearing and the ball bearing part, which in COMSOL is the time-basedarrival of signals, both in simulations and in experimental testing. It is quite useful to check thedisplacement in the time domain to detect the defect, which is used when moving the bearing that hasa crack defect so that the location of the crack is completely recognizable in its size. In this test, thetime of occurrence of the defect is also discussed. Experimental work has also been done to validatethe results. The time results in both experimental and simulation tests show that the error is low andthe error rate in the time domain will reach less than 0.3 seconds. To reduce the error, all the steps ofsecuring the part and placing the probe were well observed. Differences in bearings and measuringpoints were performed on the outer wall of the cylindrical bearing with two items to detect cracks.Roller without surface cracking and roller with surface cracking which helps a lot in how to betterfind and detect the location of cracking.
