Wound Bed Preparation (WBP) and the Use of Hybrid Acrylic Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (HA-NPWT)

Abstract

The majority of morbidity is caused by chronic wounds. They put the patient and carer under time and financial strain. The techniques used to treat chronic wounds have drastically improved throughout time. Utilising hybrid acrylic sheets along with negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) is one of the more modern therapeutic approaches. None of the earlier studies conducted in India combined these therapies to treat chronic wounds. We would want to discuss our experiences with hybrid acrylic NPWT (HANPWT) to treat chronic non-healing wounds. Synthetic acrylic sheet acts as a barrier to protect the wound by obstructing the entry of external pollutants while permitting the flow in oxygen and moisture.
