Comparative Responses of Some Fuel Wood Trees at Early Seedling Stage
Abstract: Seedling of leguminous fuel wood trees (Bauhinia variegata, Delonix regia, Peltophorum pterocarpum, Samanea saman, Saraca indica) were analyzed at different developmental stages for biochemical constituents potentially related to fast-growing habit in order to identify some markers. Protein content of leaves and stem tissue was higher in Bauhinia variegata, particularly at later stages. Total amino acid level, however, did not show much difference between growing species. Total carbohydrate content (both soluble …

Identification of Markers through Micromorphological Approach of Four Species of Fabaceae in Bankura, West Bengal
Abstract: Recently agro-forestry is gaining much importance as it has a vast scope to mitigate several problems. Many parts of the World especially in the tropics, vast areas of forest lands are now denuded of trees destroying the fragile environment and leaving extensive area unproductive. So, these areas can be reutilized by growing fuel wood plants as an alternative to fossil fuel. So, for large scale plantation screening for desired species …

Techniques on Assessment of Nutritional and Medicinal Values of Plants Used in Tribal Areas
Abstract: The present paper focuses on the nutritional and medicinal properties of plants from tribal areas of Maharashtra. The diet we consume includes vegetables, fruits, cereals, grains, legumes, nuts, spices, oils etc. and tribal areas are abundant sources of these. The tribes have built up their own particular strategies for pharmacopeia and the nutritious propensities for their customary information about therapeutic and healthful uses; they likewise utilize wild plants for sustenance, …

Indigenous Knowledge (IK) of Wild Edible Plants (WEPs) and Impacts of Resettlement in Delanta, Northern Ethiopia
Abstract: The present study was conducted in Delanta (Ethiopia) to document the use and management of wild edible plants (WEPs) and to assess the impacts of the 1984/85 resettlement program on these resources and associated indigenous knowledge (IK). Data were collected from 72 informants in six study sites through semi-structured interviews, guided field walk, simulation and group discussion, and analyzed using standard ethnobotanical tools including abundance score, ranking and comparison. In …

Production of Renewable fuel from a high invasive risk native plant
Abstract: Petroleum has been the transportation fuel of choice for more than a century now, but it’s not the only fuel that can run our cars and trucks. Some of the most promising replacements for oil come from organic biomass, including crops such as corn, switch grass, eucalyptus, soybeans and algae, wood, the main sources for the renewable fuels in use today. Bioethanol and Biodiesel are the most widely used renewable …

REBONDING FOREST FIBRE TO SUSTAINABLE DEPLOYMENT
Abstract: The significance of wood in artistic manipulations is unraveled to any other material used in engineering, commercial or in infrastructural uses. All this is at the cost of eco-sustainability, not directly because manufacturing remains ecofriendly, but indirectly; because forests are expended in realization of this raw material. The author pre-supposes that with the mere thought of cutting a tree, environmental degradation has already begun [1]. As a preventive measure, least …

Performance Evaluation of Wood Gasifier
Abstract: Generating electrical energy through biomass has advantages besides achieving self-sustainability. Biomass is particularly useful for agriculture dependent economy nations like India. Energy conversion systems based on biomass are particularly interesting because biomass utilization effectively closes the carbon cycle. An experimental investigation on biomass based gasifier engine system of 35kVA capacity has been carried out for power generation application. Problems of cooling and cleaning hot and dirty gas from gasifier has …

Harnessing Solar Energy to Supply Power to Far Flung Areas and Challenges
Abstract: AbstractIncrease in land and air pollution during the conversion of energy sources of fossil fuel such as oil, coal and natural gas have their adverse effects on environment and ecology. Depleting quality of these sources raises the question of sustainability in the long run, there by compelled humanity to go in search of the other alternatives. In this context, the solar sources of energy have attracted the global attentions and …
