Effect of Bulk Density of Developed Agglomerated Fluxes on Flux Consumption and Penetration during Submerged Arc Welding
Abstract: This paper presents the results of an experimental study correlating the bulk density of agglomerated fluxes during submerged arc welding on weld penetration and flux consumption. The basic constituents of these fluxes are CaO, SiO2, and Al2O3. Minor additions of MgO, MnO, CaF2, NiO and Fe-Cr are mixed in the basic constituents for improving techno-mechanical and physical properties of the weld metal. Keywords: Submerged arc welding, agglomerated flux, flux consumption, weld …

Numerical Investigation of Heat Transfer Enhancement in Micro-Channel Cooling Using Finite Element Analysis
Abstract: Due to the enormous heat fluxes emitted by modern electronic chips, there is a persistent need to enhance the efficiency of cooling systems. This study's focus is on optimizing heat transfer in micro-channel heat sinks that use liquid cooling. Geometric changes and the use of nano-fluids as coolants in place of water are performed to achieve this goal with little energy consumption. Numerical analysis of pipe micro-channel fluid flow and …

Bladeless Offshore Wind Turbines
Abstract: The goal of this paper is to define the structural characteristics of a vertical single-blade wind turbine operating under oscillatory movement due to the wave motion and vibrational forces provided by the wind to the assembly. This new type of turbine can change the current landscape of wind energy. They can expand the generated self-consumption produced by wind energy, which is currently low, and take advantage of the free space …

Reliability-Aware Mathematical Model for Radiation-Hardened Satellite Communication Systems
Abstract: Satellite communication systems operate in radiation environments in which total ionizing dose (TID), displacement damage, and single-event effects (SEE) can progressively degrade electronic, optoelectronic, and communication components and can ultimately reduce link availability and mission reliability. This paper develops a Reliability-Aware Radiation-Hardened Satellite Communication Model (R-RHSCM) that mathematically couples the orbital radiation environment, accumulated radiation dose, component degradation, communication-link performance, single-event failure probability, redundancy, thermal effects, and adaptive mitigation. The …
