Impact of Phosphorus Application Rates on Yield and Yield Components of Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Varieties in Relation to Water Resources at Yabello, Southern Oromia, Ethiopia
Abstract: Common bean is a key legume crop with significant economic importance in Ethiopia, particularly in the southern region of Oromia. One of the primary constraints to common bean productivity in this region is the issue of soil fertility, which is exacerbated by water scarcity. This study was conducted to assess the impact of phosphorus (P) fertilizer rates on common bean growth and yield, as well as to identify sustainable management …

Yield Loss Assessment in Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) due to Ascochyta Blight (Phoma exigua var. diversispora (Bubak) Boerema) Disease
Abstract: Ascochyta blight (Phoma exigua var. diversispora (Bubak) Boerema) causes a severe, rapidly developing disease on common beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) that can bring about complete plant defoliation and extensive yield loss. Studies were conducted in Rwanda to quantify the yield loss attributed to bean ascochyta blight on 64 common bean genotypes including bush and climbing. Using a split plot design, trials were conducted at three locations, where ascochyta disease is …

Adaptation of Recently Released Andean Common Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) Varieties for Potential Areas in Wolaita Zone, South Ethiopia Region
Abstract: An experiment was conducted during the growing seasons of 2022 to 2023 at Areka and Kokate stations to evaluate and select high-yielding Andean common bean varieties, focusing on seed yield and associated traits. Seven common bean varieties, along with a local check, were subjected to evaluation using a randomized complete block design with four replications. The analysis of variance revealed a significant difference (P < 0.01) in seed yield, pod …

Isolation and Evaluation of Aspergillus Niger : A Fungi Implicated in Infectious Diseases and its application as potential Biofertilizer
Abstract: In the quest to improve the agronomic effectiveness of Rock Phosphate (RP), a widely available and cost-effective phosphate fertilizer, this study aimed to overcome its limited solubility by isolating fungal strains capable of solubilizing rock phosphate. Soil samples were collected from Garhmukteshwar, Hapur, for the isolation process. Among several isolates, three strains exhibited the highest rock phosphate solubilization within a seven-day timeframe, coinciding with a significant decrease in soil pH. …
