Agricultural Waste-Derived Nanocellulose Composites in Pharmaceutical Packaging: Barrier Performance, Regulatory Considerations and Translational Gaps
Abstract: Pharmaceutical primary packaging is dominated by poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC), poly (vinylidene chloride) laminates and cold-form aluminium, chosen for barrier performance rather than end-of-life behaviour. Nanocellulose from agricultural residues is widely proposed as a renewable alternative, but almost the entire evidence base has been generated against food-packaging requirements. This review re-examines that literature through a pharmaceutical lens. A search of three bibliographic databases covering 2010–2026, supplemented by Google Scholar and …

Harnessing Marine and Agro-Waste Resources: Bioengineered Seaweed Polysaccharide–Coconut Films for Next-Generation Sustainable Packaging
Abstract: The increasing demand for biodegradable alternatives to petroleum-based plastics has led to significant interest in marine biopolymer-based packaging materials. This study focuses on the development of eco-friendly biocomposite films by reinforcing carrageenan, extracted from Kappaphycus alvarezii, with alkali-treated coconut at varying loadings (5%, 10%, and 15% w/w). The films were fabricated via solvent casting and subjected to comprehensive characterization. Mechanical analysis revealed substantial enhancement in tensile strength from 21.3 MPa …

Image-Based Crack Morphology Characterisation for Electrical Failure Analysis in Conductive Polymer Composites
Abstract: Electrical performance in conductive polymer composites is strongly governed by crack-network evolution, yet failure analysis typically relies on qualitative image inspection or electrical anomaly detection in isolation. This work proposes an end-to-end framework that converts optical/SEM crack imagery into a standardised crack morphology signature and quantitatively links it to electrical degradation indicators. A two-stage learning strategy is adopted: crack-representation pretraining using the public Concrete Crack Images for Classification dataset, followed …

Generative Design of Bioactive Orthopedic Composites for Fracture Repair Using an Integrated Conditional GAN–Transformer Framework: A Multi-Objective Approach
Abstract: Orthopedic composite implants for fracture repair must simultaneously satisfy conflicting mechanical and biological demands: high fracture toughness, sufficient compressive stiffness, and bioactive surface chemistry enabling osteoblast adhesion and mineralization. Existing design approaches rely on trial-and-error experimentation, yielding sub-optimal trade-offs between these objectives. This paper presents an integrated conditional Generative Adversarial Network–Transformer (cGAN-T) framework for fully computational, multi-objective generative design of hydroxyapatite (HA)-reinforced polymer composite microstructures targeting Orthopedic fracture repair. A …

Integration of Nano Ct and SEM in Study of Marcellus Shale Heterogeneity
Abstract: The increase in exploration and production in shale gas reservoir, and few studies so far reported regarding the general topology of tight reservoir, it is now imperative to critically understand the complexities surrounding the geology of shale reservoirs and its characterization. To understand the transport processes in any shale medium, we need to enhance our knowledge of the geometry and topology of the tight shale rock. The Marcellus Shale has …

A Critical Review of Hydraulic Fracture Propagation in Shale Gas Reservoirs
Abstract: The successful exploration and development of unconventional shale gas reservoirs was possible with advances in hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling. Hydraulic fracture treatments open these natural fractures and create a fracture network in gas shales. However, the fracture propagation is not fully understood as of now. A critical review of hydraulic fracture propagation in shale gas formations is presented in this paper. Effects of pertinent factors on hydraulic fracture propagation …

Effects of a Unani Polyherbal Formulation, Itrifal Mulayyan, on First and Second Degree Internal Haemorrhoids
Abstract: Background: Haemorrhoids are dilatation and tortuosity of anorectal vessels. Haemorrhoids above dentate line are called internal haemorrhoids and those below are called external haemorrhoids. These are caused mainly due to constipation. In 1st degree haemorrhoids, there is bleeding per rectum; in 2nd degree haemorrhoids along with bleeding there is prolapse of pile mass which reduces spontaneously. First- and second-degree haemorrhoids are the initial stages of internal haemorrhoids. If treatment is …

Evaporative Cooling By Using Different Porous Materials
Abstract: The method of evaporative cooling involves raising the air temperature by causing water vapour in an airstream to evaporate. Waterneeds the latent heat of vaporisation to evaporate, and this heat is produced by ambient air and a drop in air temperature. A porousmedium is necessary for both direct and indirect evaporative cooling in order to allow heat and mass transfer between the medium'swater and the air moving through it, or …

A Review of Modified Cellulose for Electrochemical Energy Storage with a Multiphysics Framework for Quaternized Bagasse Nanocellulose/Al₂O₃–PEO Composite Electrolytes in Solid-State Batteries
Abstract: A critical review of modified cellulose for electrochemical energy storage is integrated with a potassium-specific multiphysics framework using cellulose obtainable from India-relevant feedstocks, including sugarcane bagasse, cotton/cotton stalk, banana pseudostem, Hibiscus/kenaf-type biomass, and other agricultural residues. The framework addresses the coupled requirements of ambient-temperature ionic transport, K⁺ selectivity, and mechanical integrity in solid polymer electrolytes. A hierarchical QCNF@Al₂O₃/PEO₁₆–KTFSI₁ architecture is evaluated in which quaternized bagasse cellulose nanofibers provide percolated reinforcement …

Hybrid Nanoclay–Polymer Coatings with Embedded Corrosion-Sensing Microchips for Predictive Maintenance Systems
Abstract: Polymer-composite coatings provide a versatile route for combining corrosion protection, barrier reinforcement, and functional monitoring within a single material architecture. In this study, an epoxy-based polymer composite reinforced with organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) was developed as a multifunctional protective coating and integrated with an embedded corrosion-sensing microchip. OMMT contents of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt.% were incorporated into the epoxy polymer-composite matrix through mechanical stirring and ultrasonication, while neat …
