A Memory Efficient No List SPECK (NSK) Wavelet Image Coder for Memory-constrained Applications
Abstract: In this paper, a fast and memory-efficient listless version of set-partitioned embedded block (SPECK) image coder is proposed. Due to the use of linked lists, the original SPECK algorithm requires large run-time memory, making it unsuitable for memory-constrained applications. The proposed coder replaces linked list with small fixed size static memory, to keep track of blocks in set partitioning only and use only two markers to facilitate coding. Replacement of …

Wavelet Based Speckle Noise Reduction in Synthetic Aperture Radar Images
Abstract: Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is an active imaging system that can achieve high resolutions both in range and azimuth. Speckle noise is one of the most critical disturbances that alter the quality of SAR coherent images. Before using SAR images in automatic target detection and recognition, the first step is to reduce the effect of speckle noise. In this paper, filtering techniques compares with proposed method have been used on …

Quantitative Study of Deformations using Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometer (ESPI)
Abstract: AbstractThis paper discusses a research proposal to use temporal phase shifting technique of Electronic Speckle Pattern Interferometer (ESPI) for qualitative and quantitative study of deformations of various kinds. Proposed method for quantitative study is a five step phase shifting algorithm for extraction of phase information from the deformed object. Mechanical and thermal deformations in metallic thin films, metal plates and acoustic deformations are been planned for the study. Keywords: Temporal phase …

Image Denoising and Various Techniques: Survey
Abstract: Whenever an image is formed, various factors like lightning which includes its source, distance, intensity, and the camera characteristics, which included the sensor responses, lenses, and so on, affect the overall appearance of the image. The noise is one of the key components in this. It is important to remove noise in such a way that the overall quality is maintained and there is no loss of image information. There …

Ocean Surface Target Feature Extraction from Fused Multi-Polarized Bands of Sentinel-1 Data
Abstract: The introduction of new generation high-resolution SAR imagery helps in the effective monitoring of land and ocean surfaces. The SAR imagery acquired are often degraded by speckle noise which makes it difficult for quality interpretation mainly in ocean domain. Speckle reduction techniques are applied to these images to reduce the noise prior to other image processing tasks. In this paper, three different speckle reduction methods are applied both in VV …

Identify the effect of filters on noises
Abstract: Removal of noise from the image is the preleminary step when image pre-processing is done. Many fields such as weather forecasting, 3D graphics in which working on images is done by enhancing the image so that it can be used furthur. Various noises due to temperature, environment conditions, sensors enter into the image. When noise is removed from the image it highlights the particular parts of the image that are …

Design Simulation and Assessment of Image De-noising through Improved Median Filters Based Sub band Decomposition
Abstract: The quality of an image sequence can degrade due to a number of causes, such as noise in the recording, transmission, or scanning. Additionally to enhancing the visual appeal, filtering offers the advantage of facilitating subsequent image processing tasks like coding, interpretation, or analysis. While attempting to restore a perfect image from a faulty copy, noise reduction is a top concern. Because of this, there isn't a single strategy that …

Analysis of Image Watermarking Techniques against Various Noise Attacks for Medical Images using Genetic Algorithm (GA)
Abstract: In this paper, we have presented a dual secure digital image watermarking algorithm based on discrete wavelet transforms (DWT), lifting wavelet transforms (LWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) using genetic algorithm (GA) for medical images. The natural image is chosen as cover image and is decomposed up to three levels using discrete wavelet transform. The medical image is chosen as a watermark. The genetic algorithm is used to embed and …

A Review on Various Image and Video Restoration Techniques
Abstract: Reconstruction of low value deteriorated image into high quality improved image is termed as image restoration. The sight of this paper is to have knowledge about mixed restoration techniques like, average filter, median filter, wiener filter, blind de-convolution, and wavelet transform etc. The basis of restoration is to undo the operation of degraded image. There are many grounds because of which degradation takes place like, poor weather conditions, camera misfocus, …

A Statistical Approach Noise Tolerant Texture Classification
Abstract: A simple, efficient, yet robust multi resolution approach to texture classification binary rotation invariant and noise tolerant. The proposed approach is very fast to build and very compact while remaining robust to illumination variations, rotation changes, and noise. We have developed a novel and simple strategy to compute a local binary descriptor based on the conventional local binary pattern (LBP) approach, preserving the advantageous characteristics of uniform LBP. Points are …
