Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Process through Miscible Gas Injection: A Case Study of an Iranian Oil Reservoir
Abstract: Speedy computers and development in equations’ numerical solutions have enhanced applying simulation to predict the behavior of oil and gas reservoirs. The pressure in hydrocarbon reservoirs reduces overtime due to utilization of oil and gas resources until the fluid pressure itself is no more able to transfer it to the surface, and even if it reaches to the surface, its production is not cost-effective. Whereas, large amounts of hydrocarbon resources …

Well Integrity and Reservoir Behavior under Sudden Field Shutdowns During Armed Conflicts: A Comprehensive Technical Review
Abstract: In the oil and gas industry, the sudden and unplanned cessation of operations resulting from armed conflicts or pandemics typically poses complex and multifaceted technical challenges to both well integrity and reservoir behavior. Minimal or no opportunity for proper pre-shutdown preservation procedures in unplanned shutdowns, unlike planned shutdowns that follow established operational protocols. The mechanisms and consequences of well integrity degradation and reservoir performance alteration under such conditions are synthesized …

Water reservoir engineering and management
Abstract: This work aims to develop a practical system to store water in times of abundance and reuse it in times of scarcity. The proposed system uses natural caves, caverns, or empty underground spaces from mining or oil or gas extraction to store water. The geological structure of the water reservoir should be a non-porous substrate to avoid leakage. Water collection comes from dam discharge during thaw times or river flooding, …

Effects of Fracture Properties on Oil Recovery in Tight Reservoirs
Abstract: Unconventional reservoirs, characterized by low permeability are gradually becoming a force to reckon with in today’s world owing to the rapid depletion of conventional resources. However, low oil production from tight reservoirs can be mitigated by implementing hydraulic fracturing. In this study, Schlumberger’s eclipse-100 simulator was used to simulate various scenarios in order to determine the best fracture geometry and the effects of fracture properties on oil recovery. The properties …

A Model Approach of Controlling Coning in Oil Rim Reservoirs
Abstract: Water and gas coning in oil rim reservoirs poses serious hindrance to optimizing oil production in the thin oil beds as unwanted fluids tend to replace oil in the production stream. This invariably limits the ultimate oil recovery. In this study, semi-analytical models of estimating critical rate and optimum horizontal well placement were developed to control coning tendencies in oil rim reservoirs. The models were developed through semi-analytical analysis of …
