Modified Double-Diffusive Convection in Viscoelastic Fluid
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-IN X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Modified double-diffusive convection in viscoelastic fluid of the Veronis’ and Stern’s type configurations is considered in the present paper. Semi-circle theorems that prescribe upper limits for the complex growth rate of oscillatory motions of neutral or growing amplitude are derived. The limits so derived naturally culminate in sufficient conditions which precludes the non-existence of such motions. The results obtained herein significantly …

Natural Convection Heat Transfer from Annular Step Fins and Annular Triangular Fins Fitted over a Vertical Cylinder
Abstract: AbstractNatural convection heat transfer from a vertical cylinder with annular step and triangular fins has been studied numerically at various Rayleigh numbers within the laminar range. The computations were carried at a constant fin spacing to tube diameter ratio of 1. In the current study, numerical simulations of Navier-Stokes equation in support with the energy equation are conducted for a vertical cylinder with annular step fins as well as triangular …

Effect of Throughflow on the Onset of Electro-Thermo Convection in a Micropolar Fluid with Maxwell-Cattaneo Law
Abstract: AbstractThe effect of throughflow on the onset of Electro-thermo convection in a micropolar fluid with Maxwell-Cattaneo law is studied using the linear theory. The eigenvalue is obtained for free-free, rigid-rigid and rigid-free velocity boundary combinations with isothermal and adiabatic on the spin-vanishing boundaries using galerkin technique. The influence of Peclet number, Electric Rayleigh number and various micropolar fluid parameters on the onset of convection has been analyzed. It is found …

Influence of Horizontal Crossflow on the Rayleigh-Taylor Instability: A Numerical Approach
Abstract: Rayleigh-Taylor Instability (RTI) is a typical occurrence in natural events, engineering, and industrial applications. When the lighter fluid (bottom medium) is forcing the heavier fluid (top medium) on top of the lighter fluid because of a gravitational field, then that phenomenon is called Rayleigh-Taylor instability (RTI). Despite extensive records of investigating this common phenomenon i.e., RTI with several unique boundary conditions, apparently, there are no prior investigations for the RTI …

Onset of Rayleigh-Bénard Convection in a Micropolar Fluid under the Influence of Temperature Modulation, Electric Field and Internal Heat
Abstract: AbstractThis paper analyses the onset of Rayleigh-Bénard convection in a micropolar fluid subject to an Imposed Time-periodic Boundary Temperature (ITBT) of small amplitude, an AC electric field along with internal heat. The temperature gradient between the walls of the fluid layer consists of a steady part and a time-dependent oscillatory part. The Venezian approach is adopted in arriving at the correction Rayleigh number. The effects of the oscillating temperature field …

Investigation of free convection heat transfers in an attic shaped eclosure
Abstract: Absrtact Numerical investigation of free convection heat transfers in an attic shaped enclosure with differentially heated two inclined walls and filled with air is performed in this study. The left inclined surface is uniformly heated whereas the right inclined surface is uniformly cooled. There is a heat source placed on the right side of the bottom surface. Rest of the bottom surface is kept as adiabatic. Finite volume based commercial …

The Onset of Rayleigh-Bénard-Marangoni Convection in a Ferromagnetic Fluid Layer
Abstract: This study examined the implications of magnetic boundary conditions, which are vertical in nature, on buoyancy and surface tension–driven ferrothermal convection (FTC) in a ferrofluid layer. While the upper surface is stress-free and susceptible to general thermal boundary issues, the bottom surface is stiff and insulating against temperature changes. The eigenvalue issue is solved analytically using the regular perturbation method and numerically using the Galerkin technique. According to analysis, raising …

Control Chart for Attributes based on Inverse Rayleigh Distribution
Abstract: In this paper, a new attribute control chart based on inverse Rayleigh distribution is developed under a time truncated life test. The number of failures is observed from the life test and the fraction nonconforming is to be monitored by two pairs of lower and upper control limits. The simulation study shows the efficiency of the developed chart. An example is provided for illustrating the new control chart.Cite this ArticleKowsalya …
