Hybrid Graceful QoS Degradation in Distributed Operating Systems
Abstract: Maintaining Quality of Service (QoS) in distributed operating systems is a critical challenge, especially in dynamic and resource-constrained environments. Traditional QoS mechanisms often fail to adapt effectively to unforeseen failures or load spikes, leading to abrupt service disruptions. This study reviews the concept of hybrid graceful QoS degradation, a paradigm that combines multiple strategies to ensure continuous, albeit potentially reduced, service availability. By intelligently integrating techniques like resource reservation, priority-based …

Approximation-Aware Computation for Graceful QoS Degradation in Modern Multiprocessor Operating Systems
Abstract: Modern multiprocessor operating systems face unprecedented challenges in maintaining Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees under dynamic workload conditions and resource constraints. Traditional approaches to resource management often result in abrupt service degradation or complete task failure when system resources become scarce. This study presents a comprehensive framework for approximation-aware computation that enables graceful QoS degradation in multiprocessor environments. We explore the integration of approximate computing paradigms with operating system schedulers, …

Resource Reservation Approach: Application in Wireless Network
Abstract: This paper presents an enhanced resource reservation and call admission control strategy tailored for cellular networks. The proposed method uses user mobility trends to improve the efficiency of resource usage while avoiding significant network congestion. The call admission control mechanism is activated each time a new or handoff service request occurs, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently to uphold a steady quality of service (QoS) for multimedia traffic. This mechanism …

Cross-layer Solutions in WSN Routing: A Review
Abstract: WSN is a less infrastructure wireless network which is embedded with large number of Sensor Nodes (SN). Its ad-hoc manner of device distribution allows it to monitor conditions under physical and environmental scenarios. Typically, SNs in WSN are installed in a specified geographical location to monitor required information. Due to SNs’ self-configuring ability, the exploitation of target is simpler. Though, its functioning is limited with factors such as energy efficiency, …

Adaptive Routing Protocol to Optimize the Quality of Service of MANET Using Neural Network
Abstract: A MANET is a group of mobile nodes that create a temporary network without relying on centralized administration or standard supporting devices, often functioning as a conventional network. These dynamic environments present significant challenges for traditional routing and switching protocols, particularly in delivering Quality of Service (QoS) benchmarks such as bandwidth, latency, packet delivery ratio, and robustness. This study proposes an Adaptive Routing Protocol (ARP) leveraging Neural Network (NN) techniques …

Analysis of a New Approach to Admission Call Control
Abstract: This study presents a new method of managing call admission in wireless networks using a resource reservation technique. The system under study comprises a defined number of operating devices, standby units, and technicians assigned to repair failed devices. In this method, the failure and repair of devices are assumed to follow an exponential distribution. Whenever a device fails, a standby unit replaces it to maintain seamless functionality, and the failed …
