Exploring Malaria Fever (Vishama Jwara) Through an Ayurvedic Lens: A Comprehensive Review
Abstract: Malaria fever, known as Vishama Jwara in Ayurveda, is a significant global health challenge caused by the Plasmodium species transmitted via Anopheles mosquitoes. While conventional medicine has advanced in diagnosing and treating malaria, exploring it through the Ayurvedic perspective offers valuable insights into its holistic understanding and management. Ayurveda describes Vishama Jwara as a fever with irregular patterns, aligning with the cyclical febrile episodes seen in malaria. This review delves …

Progression in multi-omics and immunological research on host-parasite interactions: Transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics, metabolomics, and immune responses
Abstract: The interaction occuring between hosts and parasites is a quick and multi step-complex biological process that tries to influence disease outcomes. In recent years, multi-omics approaches, such as transcriptomics, proteomics, genomics, metabolomics, and immunological studies, have gathered substantial eye in dissecting these interactions at a microscopic level. These techniques enable a vast understanding of the molecular structures involved in parasitic infections and host defense mechanisms. This article reviews the advancements …

Investigating mosquito innate immune defence mechanism towards malaria vaccine development
Abstract: Mosquito-borne diseases weigh heavily on public health across the globe. The mosquito’s innate immune system certainly decides whether malaria parasites survive inside the vector, and that sighted it as a logical place to discover new vaccine ideas. In this review, we examine how Anopheles mosquitoes defend themselves against Plasmodium parasites and how those defenses could be turned into tools for malaria control. We focus on three layers of immunity: antimicrobial …

Quinine: Past, Present, and Future Perspective in Malaria and Autoimmune Disorder
Abstract: Quinine, a natural alkaloid extracted from the bark of the cinchona tree, has traditionally played a key role in treating malaria, a disease caused by parasites of the Plasmodium genus. Since its discovery in the 17th century, quinine has evolved from a rudimentary treatment to an essential component of modern antimalarial therapies. This article explores the historical use of quinine in the fight against malaria, its role in current treatment …

Host Invasion to Immune Evasion: Emerging Concepts in Pathogen Virulence Strategies
Abstract: Pathogens have evolved a wide repertoire of virulence strategies that allow them to invade host tissues, establish infection, and circumvent immune responses. From the initial steps of adhesion and colonization to complex molecular mimicry, antigenic variation, and immunomodulation, pathogens display remarkable adaptability. While traditional research has emphasized host cell entry and toxin production, emerging evidence highlights subtler and more dynamic strategies such as manipulation of host signaling pathways, subversion of …

Interaction of Mosquito’s hppd Enzyme with Lansoprazole Sulfide A New Hope to Tackle the Mosquito Menace – an in-Silico Study
Abstract: Tyrosine detoxification is an important physiological process that helps blood-feeding insects, such as mosquitoes that transmit Plasmodium parasites causing malaria, digest their blood meals. An enzyme known as 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD), which is part of the tyrosine detoxification pathway, helps in removing excess tyrosine in a high-protein blood meal. Excess tyrosine can be lethal to the insects, and hence, the role of HPPD enzyme is very critical. Inhibitors of HPPD …

Vaccines Through Time: Conventional Foundations and Next-Gen Innovations–Part 1
Abstract: Vaccination serves as a critical pillar of global public health, markedly decreasing infection rates and associated mortality. Traditional vaccine platforms such as live attenuated, inactivated, toxoid, and subunit vaccines have demonstrated effectiveness against pathogens like Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Plasmodium spp., yet they are constrained by antigenic variability, limited immune persistence, and complex production processes. Breakthroughs in synthetic biology, structural antigen design, and computational vaccinology have driven the development of advanced …
