A Case Study on Heat Exchange Network Synthesis
Abstract: The requirement of energy in any processing industry is not only a need but it is indeed a most wanted utility. In a typical processing or manufacturing industry the most common utility are steam and cooling water. However, the cost of these utility are no longer cheap, in fact they are expensive. Therefore, saving these utility or minimizing the usage of these utilities is one of the most needed practice …

Comparative Study of Production of Acrylic Acid from Two Different Starting Materials: Propane and Propylene
Abstract: Acrylic acid is one of the most important raw materials for a number of products. There are several reaction pathways to produce this important commodity chemical. One of the most conventionally used methods involves the manufacture from propylene as the starting material; which is created as a by-product from industrial cracking of heavy hydrocarbons. However more propane reserves are discovered recently which highlights the opportunity to produce acrylic acid from …

A High Frequency and Power Efficient Memristor Emulator and Its Application
Abstract: This study presents a small, energy-efficient memristor emulator made for use at high frequencies. The proposed circuit has a simple design that only includes three n-type MOSFETs and a grounded capacitor. This means that there is no need for active components or DC biasing. This streamlined architecture not only makes things easier, but it also uses very little power, with dynamic and static power measured at 15.82 μW and 65.6 …

Heat Integration Analysis for an HDA Process Using Pinch Analysis
Abstract: In this study a retrofitted heat exchanger network (HEN) is proposed for an existing HDAprocess plant by pinch analysis using Aspen energy analyzer. In the HDA process, benzene is produced by hydrodealkylation of toluene. From the existing plant operating data a HEN is extracted. Analysis of both design and retrofit analysis are done for the existing process plant. From design analysis it is known that ten alternative designs are possible …
