Quantitative Assessment of Phenolic and Flavonoid Metabolites and their Contribution to Antioxidant Capacity in Selected Medicinal Plants of North Bihar
Abstract: Introduction: Medicinal plants remain integral to traditional healthcare systems across India, with North Bihar harboring a rich diversity of ethnobotanically significant species. However, systematic quantitative data on the phytochemical profiles and antioxidant potential of these plants from this specific geographical region remain limited. Objective: This study aimed to quantitatively assess the total phenolic content (TPC), total flavonoid content (TFC), and in vitro antioxidant capacity of three medicinally important plants—Azadirachta indica, …

Regional Variation in Amino Acid Composition, Antioxidant and Antimicrobial Activity of Tasar Sericin from North and South Bihar
Abstract: This study investigates geographical differences in biochemical and functional characteristics of sericin obtained from Antheraea mylitta cocoons sourced from two regions of Bihar, India: Bhagalpur (North) and Banka (South). Sericin was isolated via an alkali-assisted autoclaving process. Amino acid profiles were determined using HPLC. Free radical scavenging capacity was measured through DPPH, ABTS, and hydrogen peroxide assays. Antibacterial and antifungal effects were tested against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Candida …

Monsoon Flood Forecasting in Gandak River Using Discreet Wavelet Transform
Abstract: The Gandak River in North Bihar carries huge flood during the monsoon period. The daily variation in its flow during this period is so significant that conventional methods find it difficult to model the flow. In this paper, new models employing discreet wavelet transform (DWT) have been developed to forecast daily flows in a large river like Gandak. DWT decomposes the flow series into constituent wavelet components of ``approximations’’ and …
