Olfactory Intelligence in Bio-Hybrid UAVs: Integrating Living Lepidoptera Sensors for High-Precision Environmental Monitoring
Abstract: Autonomous aerial systems still face major challenges when attempting to locate airborne volatile organic compounds because many conventional gas sensors react slowly and cannot reliably follow turbulent chemical plumes. To address this limitation, a bio-hybrid sensing approach was explored using the antenna of the silkworm moth, Bombyx mori, as a natural chemical detector. The antenna was connected to an Electroantennogram (EAG) system that converts biological nerve signals into digital signals …

Host Suitability of Trichogrammatoidea Bactrae Nagaraja on Different Host Eggs
Abstract: Trichogrammatoidea bactrae Nagaraja (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatoidea) is a highly effective egg parasitoid for controlling lepidopteran pests. This study evaluates its host suitability and biological characteristics across various lepidopteran eggs, specifically Corcyra cephalonica Stainton (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae), Spodoptera litura Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Helicoverpa armigera Hubner (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), and Pectinophora gossypiella Saunders (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae). The results indicate that T. bactrae shows the highest parasitization rates on C. cephalonica, …

Exploring Moth Diversity in the Ecosystem of Mangalore University Campus, Karnataka
Abstract: The moth is one of the genera of insects of the order Lepidoptera, where butterflies share the same genus. They have nocturnal habits and a high attraction to light. Moths have various sizes, shapes, and colors, with many having duller colors. A study was conducted on the diversity of moth species in Mangalore University campus, Mangalore, Karnataka, for eight months (August 2006 to March 2007). We recorded 39 moths belonging …

Insect Hymnenopteran Parasitoids of Sugarcane Pest and Role As Biological Control Agents
Abstract: The present study is short communication of insect parasitoids belongs to order Hymenoptera. Sugarcane crop attract number of insect pests that flourish on it, and cause about 15- 20% yield loss and minimize the productivity, this reduction in yield increase when the insect parasitoids attack on pest. There are some major parasitoids Orders that attack on the number of crops pest, like Dipteran, Lepidopterans, Neuropteran etc. and one of the …
