Study and Design of PID Controller and State Observer Technique for Inverted Pendulum
Abstract: The inverted pendulum is a classic problem in dynamics and control theory and is widely used as a benchmark for testing control algorithms, it is unstable without control. The process is nonlinear and unstable with one input signal and several output signals. It is hence obvious that feedback of the state of the pendulum is needed to stabilize the pendulum. The aim of the study is to stabilize the pendulum …

Prediction and Optimization of Laser Transformation Hardening Parameters of Unalloyed Titanium Using RSM
Abstract: The optimization abilities in Design-expert software were used to optimize the laser phase transformation hardened bead profile parameters, i.e., to maximize hardened bead width (HBW) and to minimize, the heat input (HI), hardened depth (HD) and angle of entry of hardened bead profile (AEHB) in continuous wave (CW) Nd:YAG laser transformation hardening of unalloyed titanium sheet with 1.6 mm thickness. The mathematical models were developed from Response Surface Methodology (RSM) …

Comparison of RSM and ANN Modeling Approaches in Predicting the Laser Phase Transformation Hardening Parameters on the Heat Input and Hardened-Bead Profile Quality of Unalloyed Titanium
Abstract: In the present work, laser transformation hardening (LTH) of unalloyed titanium, nearer to ASTM Grade 3 of chemical composition was investigated using CW 2kW, Nd: YAG laser. The laser process variables such as laser power, scanning speed, and focused position play a major role in deciding the laser hardened bead quality. Two methods, Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) were used to predict the heat input and …

Performance Analysis of DE-QPSK and π/4 QPSK with MRC Receiver over η-µ fading channel
Abstract: This study presents approximate but simple expression for the average symbol error rate of differentially encoded quadrature phase shift keying (DE-QPSK) and π/4 QPSK with Maximal Ratio Combining (MRC) diversity over independent η-µ fading channels. Numerical results demonstrate the error performance for different values of fading parameter µ for Lth order MRC for Format 1 and Format 2. Furthermore, error performance of both modulation techniques has also been analyzed for …
