Weldability of Ferritic Stainless Steel
Abstract: The ferritic stainless steels are generally considered less weldable than austenitic stainless steels. In case of welding of first-generation ferritic stainless steels, rapid grain growth of ferrite takes place in both the fusion zone and heat-affected zone. These coarse grains have very low ductility and toughness. Excessive grain growth can be avoided by using lower welding heat input and or certain types of additives. They are lower in cost and …

Texture Study on 316L Weldments after Heat Treatments
Abstract: AbstractAustenitic stainless steels are regularly used as components in many parts and vessels work in the ocean. Also, 316L stainless steel (SS) is used in nuclear reactors, located near sea. 316L SS base metal (BM) and weld metal (WM) are aged at 450°C and at 350°C for 6000 hours and texture analysis using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) revealed that the texture is independent of delta-ferrite content. Inverse Pole Figures (IPF) …

Corrosion Behavior of Ferritic Steel, Austenitic Steel and Low Carbon Steel Grades in Sugarcane Juice
Abstract: The objective of the present study is to evaluate the corrosion behavior of ferritic grade AISI 444 and to compare its performance with the austenitic grade AISI 304 and low carbon steel AISI 1010 in the corrosive medium of raw sugarcane juice. General corrosion and pitting corrosion behavior of AISI 444, AISI 304 and AISI 1010 steels in sugarcane juice was investigated using traditional weight loss method and cyclic polarization …
