Studies on Length-Weight Relationships and Condition Factor of Common Fish Dawkinsia filamentosa (Cypriniforms: Cyprinidae) from Southern Western Ghats, India
Abstract: AbstractThe present study describes the length-weight relationships and condition factor of a freshwater fish of Dawkinsia filamentosa (Valenciennes, 1844), southern Western Ghats, Tamilnadu, India. A total of 103 fishes were sampled from four mid-order streams (Thalaianai, Iluppaiyar, Gadana and Gundar). Fish samples were caught from March to May 2013. Abstract: AbstractMacro and microhabitat analyses were carried out for two cyprinid fishes of Dawkinsia sp., (D. filamentosa and D. tambraparniei) from the two selected rivers of South Indian river system (Thalayanai and Gadana). Macrohabitat features such as habitat structure and types; and microhabitat features such as stream depth, width, riparian cover, instream cover and substrates were studied.
