Study of Energy Injection during Intense and Super Intense Geomagnetic Storm Driven by Coronal Mass Ejection (CME)
Abstract: We have studied the energy injection process associated with CME driven storms that occurred during 18th February 1998, 4th May 1998, 16th July 2000 and 20th November 2003. The energy injection efficiency was parameterized by the ԑ parameter as a measure of the energy transfer of solar wind into the magnetosphere; we observed that intensification of ring current (Dst) depends on the energy injection into the magnetosphere and the duration …

Investigations of Cosmic Ray Strength in the Heliosphere Through Solar Cycles 23 and 24
Abstract: Solar wind disturbances and magnetic turbulence inside the heliosphere are affected by GCR, which effect is known as Solar Modulation. A data-driven investigation of the Galactic Cosmic Ray flux's temporal dependence over the Solar Cycle is carried out to investigate this event. Every month, we gather GCR data using a global statistical inference to ascertain how rigidity and time affect the GCR diffusion parameters. In this article, we examine their …

Prediction of Solar Proton Events Occurrence using CMEs and Flares as Control Events
Abstract: Prediction of Solar Energetic Particle (SEP) events is an important research area and helps in enabling space scientists prevent the risks and hazards for the space assets and astronauts. Several methods have been developed for predicting SEP events by means of studying the measured Solar Proton Event (SPE) in conjunction with other remote and in-situ measurements. The supporting measurements include solar soft and hard x-ray data, radio measurements, sunspot numbers, …

Modulation in CRI Due to Solar-Interplanetary Causes during 1996–2018
Abstract: AbstractSolar outputs and their variations are responsible to produce modulation in cosmic ray intensity (CRI) both on short-term as well as on long–term basis. It is seen that sunspot number; 10.7 cm sun oriented radio transition, coronal mass launches (CMEs) and sunlight based flares are the causal connect to sun oriented movement (SA). In addition, coronal mass discharges are related with an assortment of interplanetary plasma and field aggravations. In …

Statistical Analysis of Geomagnetic Activity and Solar Activity Features during Solar Cycle 23 & 24
Abstract: We present a statistical analysis of the geomagnetic storm (GMSs) with the solar activity features (Sunspot number (SN), H-α flare and coronal mass ejection (CME)) during solar cycle 23 and 24. Sunspot number (SN) shows good correlation with peak values of GMSs indices (correlations coefficient R= 0.76) while CME(R=0.59) and H-α (R=0.55) show moderate correlation. So we conclude that GMSs have good correlation with solar activity features during major geomagnetic …

Galactic Cosmic Rays Modulation Due to Solar-Interplanetary Activity
Abstract: AbstractThe Sun displays a multiple magnetic activities collectivity referred as solar activity. Galactic cosmic rays are subjected to heliospheric modulation under the influence of solar outputs and their variability. We observed relation between selected solar activity parameters and GCR variation. The observation based on data of Omniweb data centre for solar- interplanetary activity and monthly mean count rate of cosmic ray intensity from neutron monitor Oulu ( cutoff rigidity Rc=0.80 …

A Study of Geomagnetic Storms and Associated Solar Flares
Abstract: Geomagnetic storms are temporal disturbances of the earth’s magnetosphere caused by a prolonged southward interplanetary magnetic field and usually coinciding with the arrival of coronal mass ejections (CME). Most geomagnetic storms occur under disturbed condition making it intrinsically uneasy to distinguish one geomagnetic storm from another especially in respect of solar origin. Thirty four (34) geomagnetic storms occurring between 1997 and 2012 have been studied whose storms signatures could be …
