Abstract: Bronchiectasis is an epidemic of chronic, complex, heterogeneous and progressive irreversible airways disease. The pathophysiology of the disease is understood in terms of the interconnected concept of immune-inflammatory disease effects, impaired mucociliary clearance and structural lung damage causing irreversible damage and differential movement in recurrent exacerbations and persistent bronchiectasis.
