Development of Gesture Controlled Robot Using 3-Axis Accelerometer
Abstract: The diffusion of unstoppable juggernaut of computational innovations and artificial intelligence into our lives makes human-computer interaction (HCI) as the most emphasizing field for the current researchers and scientists. But the orthodox usage of mouse and keyboards for HCI makes our life tedious and stereotyped. After all to prosper the quality of life of elderly and physically challenged people, the improvisation of gesture control technology is a burning urgency. Thus …

Autonomous Utility Bot with Self Balancing and Obstacle Avoidance
Abstract: Over the last decade, there has been a surge in global interest in two-wheeled self-balancing robot research. The kinematics model of a two-wheeled self-balancing autonomous mobile robot is described in this paper. After the mechatronics system design for the robot is completed, the analysis of the entire kinematics model can be divided into two wheels and a body. The velocity decompositions of the robot wheel and body are then examined. …

Controlling and Management of the MEMS IMU's temperature with a Peltier Plate
Abstract: Due to its small size, light weight, low consumption of electricity, and low cost, micro-electro-mechanical systems, or MEMS, IMUs (Inertial Measurement Units) have been increasingly popular in robotics, UAVs, and UGVs (Unmanned Ground Vehicles) in recent years. MEMS IMUs combine a 3-axis accelerometer, 3-axis gyroscope, 3-axis magnetometer, thermometer, and other components into a single microchip; nevertheless, the accuracy of MEMS gyroscopes is sometimes poor, particularly when temperature is considered, and …

RF Based 3-Axis Robotic Arm using MEMS
Abstract: This 3-axis MEMS accelerometer are used in various applications like human–machine interactive games; for this application, hand gesture problem is used. This setup includes a number of 3-axis accelerometers on fingers and back of the palm to measure dynamic and static gestures, a programmable microcontroller to detect hand postures of American Sign Language and send them to a host via serial communication and analog multiplexer. The apparatus consists of sensors …

Virtual Instrumentation System for 3D Tilt Estimation of Moving Object using MEMS Multi-Sensor Fusion
Abstract: This paper considers the problem of 3D tilt estimation of moving object and development of virtual instrumentation (VI) based system prototype with motion-user interface using six degree of freedom data from MEMS accelerometer and gyroscope. To overcome the inherent limitations of both the sensors and minimize accelerometer noise error and gyroscope drift error, the sensor signals are fused using established Kalman filter and newer, simple and equally efficient complementary filter. …
