Reduction of Ocular Artifacts in Single Channel EEG by EEMD-IMF Thresholding
Abstract: AbstractElectroencephalogram (EEG) is a widely used signal for analyzing the activities of the brain and usually contaminated with artifacts due to the movements of eye, heart, muscles and power line interference. Among these ocular activities creates significant artifacts and makes the analysis difficult. In this paper, ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) inspired by wavelet thresholding is used for the correction of ocular artifacts (OA) in EEG signals. Unlike the conventional …

An Improved Power Line Interference Reduction Approach Based on Combination of Mirror Extension and IIR filtering Through a Data Driven Mechanism
Abstract: Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a clinical sign monitoring measurement of the cardiac abnormalities. Like other biomedical signals, the ECG signal is also contaminated by various kinds of noise and artifacts such as power line interference, base line wandering, muscle artifacts and electrode artifacts. The present paper proposes a scheme for power line interference (PLI) reduction from ECG signal. It makes use of the concept of mirror method, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) …

Seismic Performance Evaluation for Flat Slabs under Different Types of Soil Condition by Response Spectrum Method
Abstract: The study investigates the seismic performance of various types of flat slabs under different soil conditions by response sepctrum method. The studied flat slab buildings are G+7 stroies special moment resisting frame—flat plate slab (Model 1), flat slab with peripheral beam (Model 2) and flat slab with drop panel (Model 3), whicharemodeled by ETABS v. 2016. The response spectrum analyses are performed according to BNBC 2017, considering seismic zone Dhaka …

A Review Of Deep Learning Applications For Speech Processing Improvement
Abstract: Improve the quality of the spoken word is a common goal for many audio and speech signal processing applications. A noisy voice signal's quality and understandability may be improved via speech augmentation. Speech augmentation is critical in a wide range of fields, including hearing aids, ASR, and mobile communication. DNN-based architectures for speech recognition and augmentation have shown to be quite effective in recent years, according to a new study. …

Electrochemical Recovery of MnO2 from Spent Alkaline Batteries
Abstract: In the alkaline batteries of Zn/MnO2, the electrolytic manganese dioxide (EMD) is used as cathode that constitutes a very important part of household waste which contributes with heavy metals to the solid urban waste. This paper described the recovery of EMD by electro-oxidation on carbon cloth in acidic leached liquors from spent alkaline batteries. The maximum extraction for Mn and Zn were 43.68% (0.744 molL-1) and 56.11% (0.7321 molL-1) respectively. …

Empirical Mode Decomposition versus Wavelet filtering for Time Domain Electromagnetic Signals
Abstract: Time Domain Electromagnetic (TDEM) methods are used for exploration of deep seated mineral deposits by measuring sub-surface conductivity of the earth. The response of earth is measured by an induction coil. The signals acquired are contaminated by variety of noises. Signal filtering plays a major role in order to obtain deeper information regarding subsurface conductivities. Various methods based on conventional DSP filters, wavelets, etc. have been attempted. This paper explains …
