Ground Based Study of the Effect of Open and Close Chamber Condition on Banana Ripening Process
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false IN X-NONE X-NONE Level of O2 and CO2 plays an important role on ethylene biosynthesis during ripening of the climacteric fruit. Low level of O2 and high level of CO2 will affect ACS and ACO enzyme activities and will impede ethylene production. Thus, reduce ethylene level will eventually delay fruit ripening process. Pre-climacteric banana fruits (Musa sp.) were chosen based on ripening level, size, shape, …

Pulse Oximeter using PSoC
Abstract: A pulse oximeter to measure the oxygen saturation in blood as well as heart rate was developed using PSoC. The method proposed here is to transmit light of two different wavelengths through the finger and tissues and to measure the change in absorption intensities. The signals are obtained as photoplethysmograph (PPG) waveforms. The pulse oximeter finds the variations in both the waveforms and calculates the SpO2 and heart rate of …

Quasi Distributed FBG Sensors for the Simultaneous Measurement of Strain, Weight and Temperature
Abstract: We report quasi distributed fiber Bragg grating sensors (FBG) for the simultaneous measurement of strain, weight and temperature. Three FBGs with different Bragg wavelengths are employed for the measurement of strain, weight, and temperature. A broad band light source is used for probing and an optical spectrum analyzer for observing the reflected spectrum. All the three FBGs are connected in series leaving a few meters of fibers in between. MATLAB …

Design and Construction of Water Tank Monitoring and Control System with Digital Display
Abstract: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Design and construction of water tank monitor and control system with digital display is designed to monitor the level of water in a tank. It displays the level of water at every calibrated level. The pump is activated automatically to refill the tank when the water level is low, when the tank is filled to its maximum capacity; the pump is automatically …

Ferromagnetic Resonance in II-VI Diluted Magnetic Semiconductor, ZnxTM1-xO Nanostructures
Abstract: The ferromagnetic resonance in II-VI diluted magnetic semiconductor Zn1 xMnxO was studied theoretically. The model employed to manipulate the Hamiltonian of the system which is the Heisenberg Model. By considering a cloud of electron gas and employing equation of state, the fractions of demagnetization factors was determined. For FMR probes, the sample magnetization results from the magnetic moments of dipolar-coupled but unpaired electrons. The resulting frequency versus magnetization curve is …

Ferrocenium Ion Encapsulated Montmorillonite Clay as a Voltammetric Sensor for Distinguishing Amino Acids Glycine and Alanine
Abstract: Detection and determination of small bio-molecules and metal ions are of great importance for diagnosis of a number of diseases and understanding environmental pollution leading to extensive research on development of sensors. Among different sensors, electrochemical sensors are unique because of simplicity, low cost, easy maintenance and easy in vivo applications. Voltammetric sensor, one of the major constituents of electrochemical sensors, is essentially a surface modified working electrode (WE). The …

Paradigm Shift of Hair Dye Use from Natural to Synthetic: A Concern for Carcinogenic Trigger
Abstract: More than 60% of the young population in different parts of the world use synthetic hair dyes to enhance their looks. People prefer to use synthetic formulations over natural ones. Synthetic hair dyes consist of potentially toxic and mutagenic chemicals depending upon the class they belong to. These chemicals interact with each other to form pigment molecules. Most of the hair dyes contain aromatic amines and its derivatives to produce …

Geophysical Determination of Water Bearing Formation Using 2-Dimensional Geo-Electrical Resistivity Imaging in Ologbo Area of Edo State
Abstract: Abstract2-Dimensional Geoelectrical Resistivity Imaging Survey was carried out to locate water bearing formation at Ozolua road (line 12) and Lonestar area (line 19) in Ologbo, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government area of Edo State, Nigeria. Wenner – Schlumberger Array was carried out to map the electrical properties as an aid to characterizing the subsurface conditions using Petrozenith Earth Resistivity Meter. A total of seventy-eight soundings were obtained in each of the areas …

Intrapocket Drug Delivery System: A Spatial Tool for Periodontitis
Abstract: Periodontitis is a disease attributable to multiple infectious agents. It results from extension of the inflammatory process initiated in the gingiva to the supporting periodontal tissues. Periodontal pockets provide natural reservoir bathed by gingival crevicular fluid that is easily accessible for the insertion of a delivery device. Intra-pocket, sustained release systems have emerged as a novel paradigm for the future research. Controlled release delivery of antimicrobials is a therapeutic intervention …
