The Role of Symmetry in Topological Insulators and Superconductors
Abstract: Topological insulators and superconductors constitute a class of quantum materials characterized by insulating bulks and symmetry-protected conducting boundaries. Symmetry principles, notably time-reversal (TRS), particle-hole (PHS), and chiral symmetry, play a fundamental role in determining the topological phases and their classification within the Altland-Zirnbauer scheme. TRS protects gapless surface states in topological insulators, while PHS stabilizes Majorana modes in topological superconductors. Symmetry-protected topology extends this framework by considering partial symmetry breaking, …

Assessment of Approval Process and Government Policies: Special Approach for Combating Building Collapse in Nigeria
Abstract: Adequate synergy among clients, government agencies, structural engineers, regulatory bodies, stakeholders, and allied professionals in building industry is imperative for combating incidence of building collapse in Nigeria. This study examined the supervision responsibilities of professionals, construction management and challenges of building inspectors in selected local governments in south western Nigeria. Literatures, media, systematic sampling technique and structured interview guide were used for collection of data. Data gathered were analyzed and …

Integration of Modular Multilevel Converter Topology in the Design and Control of Hybrid Electric Vehicles
Abstract: A back-to-back modular multilevel converter (BMMC) based plug-in hybrid electric vehicle power conversion system is proposed to solve the problems of traditional MMC-EV. The local AC harmonics generated by the operation of MMC-EV accelerate the battery degradation and reduce the battery life. Currently, electric vehicles are in great demand due to the rising oil prices and environmental pollution concerns. Since the backbone of electric vehicles is the energy storage system, …

Fire Safety in Healthcare Facilities: An Indian Perspective
Abstract: Fire protection and safety measures in hospitals are of utmost importance to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. Due to the patients' limited mobility, hospitals are more susceptible to fire disasters. Short-circuits, basements being used as storehouse, inappropriate storage of flammable liquids, improper power supply load, false ceiling panel lined with thermocol, faulty electric wirings, and overheating leading to burning of wires are some of the common causes …

IoT Based Smart Kitchen Pantry
Abstract: Abstract—In recent years, food waste has received growing interest from local, national and international organizations, as well as NGOs from various disciplinary fields. As food waste occurs in all stages of the food supply chain, private households have been identified as key actors in food waste generation. The project maps the small but expanding academic territory of consumer food waste by systematically reviewing empirical studies on food waste practices as …

Recognition and Mapping of Structural Guides for Barytes Mineral Exploration in Parts of Kadapa District using Remote Sensing and GIS
Abstract: Identification and mapping of structural criteria of a region reveals information about the occurrence of ore deposits of igneous and metamorphic origin. Remote Sensing and GIS data helps in detection of such structural features, like faults, lineament, folds, etc. These are important guides for exploration of ore mineral and groundwater. Kadapa district hosts important ore minerals of igneous and metamorphic origin like Barytes, asbestos, gold, galena, steatite etc. Barytes is …
