Persistent Atmospheric and Ecosystem Impacts of Enteric Methane Emissions from Intensive Livestock Production Systems
Abstract: Enteric methane emissions from intensive livestock production systems exert a significant long-lasting influence on atmospheric stability and ecosystem integrity. Recent observations confirm that global methane emissions continued to rise through the early 2020s, with total emissions exceeding 620 teragrams per year by 2024, driven by expanding ruminant production and associated feed systems. Anthropogenic sources accounted for more than 330 teragrams per year, reflecting sustained growth in agricultural and fossil fuel …

Grid based docking study of some 2-(4-methylsulfonyl phenyl) pyrimidine derivatives (designed after QSAR studies) with Cyclooxygenase
Abstract: Molecular docking helps in studying drug/ligand or receptor/ protein interactions by identifying the suitable active sites in protein, obtaining the best geometry of ligand-receptor complex and calculating the energy of interaction for different ligands to design more effective ligands. In Grid based docking, after unique conformers of the ligand are generated, the receptor cavity of interest is chosen and a grid is generated around the cavity. Cavity points are found …

Live Epidemiological Tracking of COVID-19 in Senegalese Participants of the Hajj
Abstract: Background: Since the COVID-19 outbreak, global efforts have focused on controlling the disease. However, intense cross border movements pose a risk for the emergence of new SARS-CoV-2 strains. A recent example is the detection of cases among the 2024 Senegalese pilgrims returning from Mecca, Saudi Arabia. Investigations of these cases have revealed genomic evolution of the virus. The lack of surveillance may lead to the emergence of high-threat strains. This …

Identification of Secondary Metabolites from Zingiber officinale as Inhibitors for Keap 1-Nrf2 small Molecules through Molecular Docking Techniques
Abstract: Objective: Therapeutic plants aid in treating cancer-based cell signaling pathways and preventing certain risk factors. Zingiber officinale has a variety of anti-inflammatory characteristics also contributing to enhanced immunity, reducing cancer risk and used to target the KEAP NRF2. When overexpressed in response to oxidative stress and DNA damage, elevates the risk of developing multiple cancers. NRF2 cellular sensors, which also control and coordinate their expression aid in defending healthy cells …

The Role of Rubella Virus Infection among Women with Spontaneous Abortion in Al-Najaf Governorate
Abstract: Rubella virus could cause a spectrum of birth defects known as Congenital Rubella Syndrome (CRS) if the infection occurs within the first or second trimester of pregnancy. Repeated miscarriage is defined as a condition with two or more consecutive abortions before the 20–25 weeks of gestation. Rubella remains to be a severe public health problem in developing countries. Recurrent miscarriage is a multi-factorial disease, which occurs in approximately 1%–2% of …

Real Time Characterization of BA.2.86 and Its Variant (JN.1) in Senegal Using Midnight Protocol
Abstract: During the week ending August 13th, 2023, the most prevalent variant of interest (VOI), uploaded to GISAID, was the BA.2.86 variant. This SARS-CoV-2 Omicron lineage was described as the first phylogenetically distinct from the currently circulating SARS-CoV-2 Omicron XBB lineages, including EG.5.1 and HK.3. Compared to the XBB and BA.2 lineages, the BA.2.86 possesses more than 30 mutations in the Spike (S) protein, suggesting a significant potential for immune evasion. …
