Quantum dots: Properties, Synthesis and Applications
Abstract: AbstractSemiconductor nanocrystal or quantum dots are Nano particles composed of ten to few hundreds of atoms but confined in a very small region. These are zero dimensional materials and are gaining attention to the researchers because of their interesting optical, electronic and opto-electronic properties compared to bulk. Quantum mechanical confinement plays a key role in determining the peculiar behaviour compared to bulk. Various preparation methods such as chemical, colloidal synthesis, …

H-Component residual Geomagnetic field variation at low and equatorial stations during the geomagnetic storm of May 29-31, 2003
Abstract: The variation of the H-component residual geomagnetic field during the storm of 29-31 May, 2003 has been studied for features of induced current at low and equatorial stations. Five stations (three from the Indian chain of stations) lying close to the dip equator but within less than 7 hrours apart were used to investigate the nature of the response of the ground stations to possible induced fields other than the …

A Review of Formation of Oxygen-Related Donors (ODs) and Impurity Concentration in Step-Annealed Czochralski Silicon
Abstract: Czochralski (CZ) silicon being one of the two methods of silicon crystallization, the one that is used commercially for device fabrication, needs to be studied more closely. Hence, the Generation and behaviour of thermal donors (TD) and new donors (ND) as a result of pre-annealing at moderate temperature 480°C of carbon-rich boron-doped (p-type) CZ-silicon has been studied here, as function of annealing time by Hall studies and resistivity measurements in …

Extraction and Purification of Total Phenolic Content from seeds of Dimocarpus longan fruit
Abstract: Total phenolic compounds are belonging to secondary metabolites and played an antioxidant and anti-cancer activity. In the Soxhlet extraction process, the extraction of total phenolic content concentration was 8.6 µg/ml obtained from seeds of longan fruit at 5 hr. This extract was drawn in to the column chromatography and its concentration was increased to 9.2 µg/ml. The purity of phenolic content was improved by column chromatography at 40 min. Keywords: …

Evaluation of the Effect of Sodium Lauryl Sulphate on Curcumin Microspheres
Abstract: Purpose: To evaluate the effect of the surfactant - sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) on curcumin microspheres. Methods: Curcumin microspheres were prepared by solvent evaporation method by varying the ratios of the polymers like Eudragit S 100, ethyl cellulose (EC). Ethanol/dichloromethane blend was used as solvent in a ratio of 1:1 to prepare the drug-polymer dispersion and the surfactant SLS was used to prepare the aqueous phase. The prepared microspheres were evaluated …
