Abstract

This study presents wireless irrigation and plant disease detection system. This system aims toreduce the manual work for the farmer by incorporating wireless technology to ensure theefficiency. The entire system consists of Wireless Sensor Node Units and a WirelessInformation Unit. Each sensor node is equipped with a temperature and humidity sensor, asoil moisture sensor and a microcontroller to measure the sensor data values. In addition tothese sensors, we have used an image sensor to capture the images of the plant for thedetection of diseases. For the transfer of data between the sensor nodes and the wirelessinformation unit, Zigbee is used. When the measured values fall below the threshold, thepumps are switched on automatically. The wireless information unit has a single-boardcomputer that displays the sensor data received from the sensor nodes through Zigbee andsends the real time data to the farmer`s mobile through the GSM technology.
