Future-generation wireless communication system requires higher performance system in terms of high data rate with better link reliability in hostile fading environment. Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) and multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna systems are a popular technique for transmission of signals over wireless channels. They individually assist multipath fading environment and improve link reliability without sacrificing much bandwidth and also provide high data rate. The combination of OFDM and MIMO seems to be the key technology in next-generation high data rate wireless mobile systems. In this paper firstly, MIMO and OFDM technology is introduced. Secondly, the authors provide an overview of space-time (ST) coding and space-frequency (SF) coding techniques for MIMO-OFDM systems which improve the reliability of system further. Finally, performance comparison of different coding techniques for OFDM-MIMO system is done. Keywords: MIMO, OFDM, STBC, SFBCCite this Article Rasekar SH, MuleSB.
