Abstract

In this paper, impingement cooling on single stationary flat stainless steel plate is performed to illustrate the effects of cooling rate, heat transfer rate, heat transfer coefficient of the plate when the jet hole diameter is changed from 5 to 8 mm. It means that changes in Reynolds number (Re) and Nusselt number (Nu) show corresponding changes in air velocity. Select the jet to target plate distance nine times diameter of the jet hole (D) and choose central jet hole configuration, which is best for cooling purpose. Target plate is made of stainless steel material because it’s properties near to the gas turbine blade material properties and maximum strength at high temperature. The objectives of the study are to analyze the performance and implement experimental setup and efficient cooling by single stationary stainless steel flat plat in case of laminar flow. Impingement cooling occurs more by jet plate hole diameter D=5 mm compared to the D=8 mm.
