Abstract

This paperwork presents a single-phase shunt active power filter to reduce total harmonic distortion.Harmonic pollution in the power system has increased significantly because of the widespread usage of nonlinearsingle phase power electronic equipment on the low voltage side. For electrical engineers, improving powerquality has emerged as their greatest obstacle. A single-phase shunt active power filter was constructed inMATLAB/SIMULINK using a voltage supply inverter and a hysteresis current regulator. The performance of asingle-phase shunt active power filter in the presence of a nonlinear load is demonstrated by the simulation resultsthat are presented. Many problems, including low power factor, excessive neutral current, feeder voltagedistortion, transformer heating up, destruction to power gadgets, and malfunctioning of sensitive equipment, arecaused by reactive power and harmonics. To remove harmonics from the power supply, PCC installs active powerfilters (APF).
