Abstract

In recent years, electric vehicles (EVs) have grown in popularity as the most practical alternative for helping to protect the environment and achieve great energy efficiency in transportation. Traction motors are the primary source of propulsion in electric vehicles. Excellent torque and power density, a wide speed range, high efficiency, and high dependability are all requirements. The most promising possibilities, which have been widely employed for EV (or hybrid EV) tractions, have emerged. Different rotor designs may be used in these electric motors. Rare-earth magnets are frequently used in topologies to attain high performance. In electric vehicle applications, traditional permanent magnet synchronous motors are commonly employed. The theoretical design of a conventional permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) for electric cars is the subject of this research. The research is applicable to both surface mounted and inset magnet rotors. To ensure that the target total drive performance is achieved, various losses calculations are included in the design procedures. Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors have the ability to provide a high torque-to-current ratio, as well as a high torque-to-current ratio, high efficiency, and high power-to-weight ratio robustness.  Because of the aforementioned advantages, PMSMs have been increasingly popular in recent years.  AC drives with variable speeds, especially in electric vehicles applications for automobiles. The project's goal is to create a simulink-based semi-detailed simulation of a permanent-magnet ac motor drive with third-harmonic injection that uses a sine-triangle modulator
