Abstract

Soil stabilization is the procedure of improving the shear strength parameters of soil and so increasing the bearing capability of land.It is needed when the territory available for construction is not suited to carry structural load. Soils exhibit generally undesirable engineering properties. Soil Stabilization is the modification of soils to raise their physical attributes.Stabilization can increase the shear intensity of a territory and/or control the shrink-swell properties of a stain, thus improving the load bearing capability of a sub-class to support pavements and bases.Soil stabilization is applied to reduce permeability and compressibility of the land mass in earth structures and to increase its shear strength. The primary aim of this report is to review the physical and chemical attributes of soil in different types of stabilization methods.Stabilization and its effect on soil indicate the reaction mechanism with additives, the outcomes on its intensity, improve and conserve soil moisture content for construction systems.Soil stabilization can be achieved by various methods. All these methods fall into two broad classes, namely mechanical stabilization and chemical stabilization.Mechanical stabilization is the procedure of improving the properties of the land by changing its gradation and chemical stabilization of expansive soil comprises of varying the physical-synthetic around and within the clay particles whereby the earth obliges less water to meet the static imbalance and making it troublesome for water that moves into and out of the framework so as to fulfill particular designing road ventures.
