Gada Nigraha—A Critical Review

Abstract

Ayurvedic classical literature has its own peculiarities and focuses on different aspects such as pathology, pharmaceutical and treatment protocol. Most recent treaties of Rasashastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana are written mainly on the usage of various dosage forms to treat the diseases. Gada Nigraha (12th century) is a compelling treatise of Ayurvedic pharmaceutics and reflections of precedent texts on the contents. This treatise consists of two parts and 604 formulations. Systemic presentation of formulations according to dosage form is the headline of the text. An attempt has been made in the present paper to review and analyze all the formulations. Formulations of the book exerts influence on both academicians well as practitioners.
