Abstract

Vestibular rehabilitation is one of the effective treatments for vertigo patients, regardless of their age. Some of the patients are suffering from psychological disturbances as an impact long-standing of vertigo symptoms. Most of them experience anxiety and depression after long-standing vertigo symptoms. In this case, vestibular rehabilitation will help improve the patient’s condition with psychological involvement. Chronic vestibular disorders can have significant physical, psychological, and social consequences for patients. This case report describes a 25-year-old male who presented with chronic imbalance, floating sensations, and tinnitus, which significantly limited his daily activities. Following a comprehensive evaluation, the patient received one-on-one balance therapy using structured vestibular rehabilitation. The Malay form of the Vertigo Symptom Scale (MVSS), the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI), and the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) were administered before and after rehabilitation to assess the patient's physical and psychological symptoms. Objective Foam Test was also used to evaluate postural control. After five physical sessions, the patient reported a 90% improvement in symptoms and demonstrated significant postural control progress on the Objective Foam Test. This case highlights the potential benefits of non-pharmacological interventions such as vestibular rehabilitation in managing chronic vestibular disorders and improving patients' physical and psychological well-being. Early intervention and multidisciplinary care involving collaboration between healthcare providers may help optimize outcomes for patients with chronic vestibular disorders.
