Abstract

AbstractPsoriasis is a common dermatitis affecting 1-3% of the population. Several attempts have been made in overcoming psoriasis with prolonged treatment duration. The oral anti-psoriatic agents though quite effective are associated with renal, hepatic and hematological toxicities. The topical treatments have also been described in the classical Unani literature. This work aims in evaluating antipsoriatic potential of Barg-e-Neem, Barg-e-Henna, and Kamela that exhibit anti-inflammatory activity and are used in traditional system of medicine to treat several pathogenic disorders and skin ailments. An acute dermal toxicity study of the individual extracts suggests safety and efficacy of the extracts up to the concentration of 2000 mg/kg body weight. The polyherbal paste of Barg-e-Neem, Barg-e-Henna, and Kamela was prepared as per Unani classical literature. The paste was subjected to cell line study, biochemical evaluation, advanced anti-psoriatic studies on animal models. The results demonstrate the anti-psoriatic potential of the classical Unani paste enriched with Barg-e-Neem, Barg-e-Henna, and Kamela powder. Keywords: Anti-psoriatic polyherbal paste, cell line study, biochemical evaluation, in vivo advanced anti-psoriatic studiesCite this ArticleShadab Khan, Ghazala Mulla, Kiran BhiseAntipsoriatic Potential of PolyherbalPaste Research & Reviews: Journal ofHerbal Science . 2019; 8(3): 20 32 p.
