A Study to Assess Respectful Maternity Care (RMC) as Perceived by Postnatal Mother in Postnatal Ward of Selected Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal

Abstract

Abstract A descriptive study was conducted to assess respectful maternity care (RMC) as perceived by postnatal mother in postnatal ward of selected hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal. The study population were postnatal mothers. The setting was postnatal ward of one medical colleges of Kolkata. A valid structured interview schedule was used for assessing RMC. Data were collected by interviewing postnatal mothers admitted in postnatal ward. Findings of the study depicts, 58% of postnatal mothers privacy was maintained whereas for 42% of postnatal mothers privacy was not maintained. 64% postnatal mothers were not verbally abused whereas 36% postnatal mothers were verbally abused.
