Abstract

The proposed project puts forward a systematic implementation of internet of things (IoT). Since, the technology is becoming more advanced day-by-day. Therefore, manual systems are being replaced by the automatic system. Today, the internet has become an integral part of life. The idea that devices can be controlled remotely across the world is made possible by IoT—the interconnection of devices via a global network. This paper deals with the home automation system (HAS), which uses a smartphone and computer as its main components. We can build a wireless HAS using Intel Galileo. The system brings together cloud networking, wireless communication and remote control of various appliances. Later on, data mining concepts can be applied to home environment monitoring. This could be done by predicting what actions might be required in given situations—for example, turning an air conditioner off when no one is home. The concept can be enforced using the Bayesian classification algorithm to find a solution that is both optimal and acceptable. HASs make use of portable devices such as mobile phones, tablets etc. as a user interface. For connection between these appliances, an internet gateway such as Wi-Fi, Zigbee etc. is used. The Raspberry Pi is used as server system and Wi-Fi as communication protocol. A second feature that enhances the HAS is its ability to detect smoke in a fireplace and sent an alert message with an accompanying image. Moreover, a cheaper HAS can be developed using an Arduino-UNO board and an app control for remote operating devices. By creating an intelligent, easily installed system that can be controlled from afar, we will make it possible for homeowners to eliminate wasted energy and dramatically lower their utility bills.
