Abstract

A variable-frequency drive (VFD) is a device used in electro-mechanical drive systems to regulate the speed and torque of AC motors. It consists of a rectifier, a DC link, and an inverter, which work together to convert AC power into a variable frequency and voltage AC power supplied to the motor. By providing accurate speed regulation, VFDs enable energy conservation, enhanced process management, and reduced motor wear. They are commonly used in industrial applications where precise speed control is crucial. The objective of this project is to develop a user-friendly front-end application for controlling a VFD. The application will have an intuitive interface allowing the user to control the drive's operation and adjust parameters such as frequency, voltage, and current limits. The project will utilize the Modbus development platform and involve designing the user interface, developing the application, conducting thorough testing, and deploying it for use. This application will enable non-technical employees to efficiently learn and operate VFD controls, providing basic information about the VFD and its manufacturing industry. It will display live parameters in a pop-up block, allowing users to easily read and monitor the VFD's various parameters.
