Applications of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics: An Overview

  1. Shalini Shukla

Abstract

Bioinformatics is a multidisciplinary science that combines biology, mathematics, and computer science. The use of computer science to handle biological data in order to decode plant genomes is known as bioinformatics. More than a decade ago, the science of bioinformatics arose as a tool to aid biological discoveries. The creation of the Human Genome Project (HGP) resulted in a tremendous rise in biological data. Capturing, managing, processing, analysing, and interpreting data has never been more vital. Scientists can use bioinformatics and computers to help them tackle the problem. The tasks of bioinformatics are introduced here, while Web tools and resources for bioinformatics are evaluated, as well as its applications in agriculture and relevance to other fields. In biological research, several bioinformatics techniques are used.
