One of the most severe and potentially fatal conditions of the infant brain that can develop before or during delivery is HIE. Common definitions of HIE include HYPOXIC (insufficient oxygen), ISCHEMIC (insufficient blood flow), and ENCEPHALOPATHY (brain disease). It is a terrible disease that can leave children with severe neurologic deficits or even kill them. HIE happens when a baby's brain receives insufficient oxygen and blood (perinatal hypoxia), which results in the death of brain cells. Long term complication commonly found is Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Sensory deficit. In modern science there is no permanent treatment. Some therapies are continue to be investigated but there are no final conclusion for treatment. Here a new born’s relatives were come to Ayurveda chikitsa mandir and panchkarma research center, Ahmedabad who diagnosed HIE GRADE-2 with the chief complaints of Swasa kashtata(~dysnoea), Ati nidrata(~excessive sleepiness), Kshdhamandya(~anorexia), Alashyata(~decreased motor activities), Sharira Shyavata(~cynosed, on & off), repeated Convulsion 3–4 times in a single day. patient birth history revealed that birth weight was 2 kg 200 gm Normal delivery (on 1/8/2020). Patient’s cry was absent after delivery, then after patient’s oxygen saturation was decreased (fluctuable) and patient suffered from severe convulsion within 2–5 minutes, patient became cyanosed so patient was shifted in neonatal ICU and started oxygen intervention and anti-convulsant, anti-biotic medicine. Patient became cyanosed many times in a single day and other above symptoms in severe form. Paediatrician was consulted and was diagnosed HIE GRADE-2. So they came to here for treatment. They were benefited in all the symptoms of HIE grade-2 in 1 month but treatment was continue for 1 year for observation purpose.
