Welcome to the world of Ayurveda, in the present era, everybody is looking towards Ayurveda for health care. Ayurveda is the science of life and its main aim is to maintain healthy status of living being and prevention and treatment of disease. To fulfil these purposes, Ayurveda has mentioned various fundamental principles in reference of sharir rachna, sharir kriya, chikitsa etc. These are the basic elementary tissues of the body such as dosha, dhatu, mala, agni, mana and nidra etc. When these dosha, dhatu, agni and mala are in equilibrium stage and perform their physiological function in normal way and satisfactory happy state of soul senses and psyche are called as Swasthya. In Ayurvedic literature, Dosa, dhatu and mala has been assumed as the base of the body. Formation, maintenance and destruction of body depends upon the prakrut–vikrut state of these Dosas. In prakrut state, by doing their defined functions they act as cofactors of the body while in their vikrut state they are the cause for diseases occurring in the human body. The present article was aimed to understand the concept of Pitta dosha w.s.r. to samanya karma along with prakupita karma for easy understanding of pitta physiology and pathology which will help further in treatment aspect.
